Hi Long Range Anglers;
Happy 4th of July. A couple times a year I ask if there is anybody who wants to be taken off my email list. So if these fishing updates are annoying or too frequent please just let me know and I will be happy to take you off my list - I hate spam too - so please let me know if you want off the list.
For the rest of you fishing fools, we are entering the peak of our normal summer season and it seems we are being blessed with a great opportunity for bluefin tuna. The captains report a wide range of mixed size fish and when the weather cooperates the bite is very good. They are reporting excellent water and bait conditions and a large spread of fish so I am hoping this bluefin tuna could stay with us for the full summer. Keep your fingers crossed. Take a look at the Intrepid's fish report from yesterday - below - or click on www.fishintrepid.com. If you want to cash in on some potentially great fishing I have some open spots on my 5 day Red Rooster trip departing August 26 and my 7 day Royal Star trip departing Sept 29. The details and contact numbers are pasted below in my schedule. Hope you can make one of them. As you know all of my trips have 15 plus sponsors with tons of raffles prizes.
Finally, due to some cancelations we also have some spots open on our 14 day Intrepid December 4 - 18 trip, which has provided epic fishing for big yellowfin tuna the last two years. If your bucket list includes a cow please consider joining us on this December trip to famous Clarion and/or the Hurricane Bank. Awesome, awesome trip!!!!!
Intrepid Fish Report for Mon. July 2, 2012
Hi gang. We fished for bluefin tuna today and did very good. We didn't do much in the morning but come early afternoon we got on a school of mixed grade fish that stayed with us all the way until dark. The bulk of the fish was 20 to 35 pounds and we also had 8 fish that were 50 to 70 pounds. It was a perfect pace for our group with one to four fish hooked all the time. We have a number of anglers on board that have never caught a bluefin tuna before today.... they have now. For our more experienced fisherman on this trip, they were able to catch their daily limit with a little effort. These fish were not biting full speed but, if you got a good bait out away from the boat on the right gear, you pretty much got bit within a couple of minutes. It was very enjoyable bluefin tuna fishing. With our weather continuing to get nicer through out the day, we are excited about what tomorrow has in store for us. The photos from today's fishing are of some of the larger fish we landed and go as follows. Donald Aiso with assistance from Dave Taylor. Joanne Puscizna with assistance from Dave Taylor and Scott Shurko, and Mike Flores with help from Scott Shurko. Good night. "The Intrepid Team"
And more good news just minutes ago from Tommy on the Polaris Supreme: "I've been keeping in touch with Art on the Searcher the last three days. He's been fishing bluefin at 160 miles on his four day trip with great success! Sunday with over 100 bluefin. Monday he had 55 bluefin. That day another boat fished with him traveling down and got 80 bluefin. This morning at 8:00 the Searcher already had 15 bluefin. The grade of this fish is 20-30 lbs and occasionally somebody gets on the 90 lb. grade. So don't forget a 50lb. 2-speed reel for that class."
